Penalty thriller: The HCB returns to winning ways

Just two days after the clear defeat in Graz The HCB won at home against Villacher SV 3-2 after a penalty shootout. Doug Mason's team had a 2-1 lead until shortly before the end. But Villach's Scott Scott Kosmachuk saved the guests into overtime 2 minutes before the end of regular time. The game then went to a penalty shootout. It was a marathon affair, at the end of which Bolzano was able to celebrate: Angelo Miceli ultimately secured the Foxes' home win in the 11th penalty.

This time, Bozen's captain Anton Bernard won the brother duel against Andreas (the Eagles won in overtime on October 10th), even though he got stuck twice on the Villach goalie during the penalty shootout. Italy's national goalkeeper, who played 10 games for the Foxes last season, played a strong game on his return to the ice wave.

Bolzano coach Doug Mason had to do without Marco Insam and Dustin Gazley again on Sunday, but they, like Ivan Tauferer, could be back after the international break. In contrast to the 0-4 defeat in Graz, Fassa loan player Leonardo Felicetti was there again.

After the 5th win in the last 6 games, the Talferstadt team remains in 5th place in the table. For the HCB, the ICE Hockey League will only continue again after the international break. Then the derby at HC Pustertal is coming up in just under two weeks (on Friday, November 19th).

The highlights VSV takes the lead after 7 minutes. Anton Karlsson serves Chris Collins in the slot and he hammers the puck from his wrist into the top corner. The HCB equalized towards the middle of the second third - and that was extremely worth seeing. After a nice combination via Angelo Miceli and Dominic Alberga, Dan Catenacci completed the attack to a 1-1 draw. The equalizer is more than deserved at this point. Immediately after the start of the final third, the HCB took a 2-1 lead: the puck came from the back of the goal back into the high slot, where Alex Trivellato took the shot and gave Andreas Bernard no chance with a powerful shot. Shortly before the end, Villach equalized. Scott Kosmachuk takes a powerful slapshot and is able to outwit Kevin Boyle. The penalty shootout never ends. Kevin Boyle and Andreas Bernard keep showing strong saves. In the end, Angelo Miceli was able to end the matter and converted the decisive penalty for HCB's victory. HCB Südtirol Alperia has returned to winning ways in the ICE Hockey League. The Foxes defeated Villacher SV on Sunday in their home ice wave and quickly made the 0-4 defeat in Graz forgotten.
