Pustertal's tragic victory: The season is over

Rarely has a Torgala tasted so bitter. HC Pustertal beat HK SZ Olimpija 7-2 from the Intercable Arena on Sunday evening, but in the end the disappointment was the mood that prevailed in ice hockey-crazy Bruneck. Because despite the success, the Wolves remain in 11th place and therefore bottom line. A difficult season for the HCP comes to an end after the basic round.

The initial situation was bleak, even a little hopeless. In the end, it happened as it had to happen: The Graz99ers, who took the coveted 10th place with a one point lead over Pustertal, won confidently against bottom team Vorarlberg 4-0 and grabbed the last pre-playoff ticket. The fact that the Pioneers came to the last game with only 13 field players and therefore had practically no chance from the start was noted with a fair amount of anger in the Intercable Arena.

No playoffs, no pre-playoffs, no: HC Pustertal's second ICE season ends after the regular season! A sweeping win on the last match day wasn't enough to jump on the bandwagon towards the fifth season.
