Rapid race to catch up: HCB shoots its way out of the crisis

With 13 minutes to go, it looked as if the deep crisis in Bolzano (only one win from the last seven games) would worsen: the Foxes were 0-2 behind against ninth-placed Znojmo.

But then the HCB showed great morale and great fighting spirit: First captain Bernard made it 1:2 with a rebound, 112 seconds later Findlay equalized with a precise shot. The game was then on a knife edge, with chances on both sides. Five minutes before the end, Crescenzi broke through and could only be stopped by the Znojmo defense with a foul - a penalty, which Petan coldly converted.

So the first win in 2019 was perfect. A triumph that acts like balm on the Bolzano ice hockey soul: The Foxes not only took a big step out of the crisis, but also increased their cushion in seventh place. With six games to go before the end of the regular season, this is seven points.
