End of season averted: The “Foxes” are still alive

What a performance by the champions: With a lot of effort and wit, the reigning title holder defeated Klagenfurt AC and extended the series at least until next Friday. HC Bozen celebrated a deserved 4.500-4 win in front of 2 spectators.

In a starting third marked by individual mistakes, both teams got off to a flying start. After aggressive forechecking by Daniel Frank and Dan Catenacci and the subsequent puck win, Marco Insam made it 1-0 in the slot. At this point only 125 seconds had been played. 20 seconds later, Catenacci made a careless loss on his own blue line, Daniel Obersteiner gratefully accepted the gift and scored the instant equalizer with his first EBEL goal.

Things continued in this vein: In the 5th minute, Markus Nordlund, who was sorely missed in Klagenfurt, moved from the wing in front of the goal and used his own rebound to give the HCB the lead again. However, this didn't last long, as the “Red Jackets” scored their second goal before the first break. David Fischer rounded the Bozen goal and played the puck into the goal area, where Daniel Glira misdirected it over the line with his skate. Foxes play big During the first break, both teams apparently learned their lessons from the turbulent opening third and initially shifted down a gear. It wasn't until well after half the game that things started going off again - but really! Inspired by a power play, Bozen threw everything forward and took the lead for the third time. Luca Frigo gave a Campbell shot the decisive change of direction and deprived Lars Haugen of any chance to defend in the KAC box. Immediately afterwards, Alex Petan gave the fans a great performance: with a no-look pass through his own legs, he brilliantly set Riley Brace in the spotlight, who, standing alone in front of Haugen, put the disc just a few centimeters wide of the goal. Now the ice wave turned into a cauldron for the first time that evening. The cracks were sent off into the second break with thunderous applause. Insam scores twice Even after the restart, the South Tyroleans' reduced staffing levels were never noticeable. The Foxes continued to complete the checks and throw themselves into every shot. So they managed to save their narrow lead until the final phase. The emotions then boiled over again and again. It wasn't until 10 seconds before the end that the fans were able to wipe the beads of sweat from their foreheads when Insam shot into the empty goal and set Bolzano's first playoff win in stone.

HCB Südtirol Alperia prevented Klagenfurt from reaching the semi-finals on Tuesday evening and sent a clear sign of life to Carinthia with a passionate performance.
