Jump to 4th place: HCB continues its successful run

The HCB remains the team of the hour in the Erste Bank Ice Hockey League. The Talferstadt team, who collected more points than any other team in the last five rounds, didn't let VSV stop them and won 60:6 after 4 hard-fought minutes. Thanks to the success in the “six-point game” against the Carinthians, the people of Bolzano moved up to fourth place in the table.

In addition to Dan Catenacci, who had a knee injury, HCB coach Clayton Beddoes also had to call on the ailing Jamie Arniel. Goalkeeper Justin Fazio took a seat on the Bolzano substitute bench for the first time. After a long wait, the goalkeeper has received his Italian passport and is now eligible to play for the Foxes.

Cold shower to start with Bozen actually started the game quite well, but was caught cold in the guests' first attack: VSV defender Fraser was given far too much space on the blue line and scored unchallenged to give Villach the lead. The HCB only had to shake themselves briefly after falling behind and came back outnumbered: Bardaro intercepted an inaccurate pass, played a one-two with Hargrove and pushed it into the empty goal to make it 1-1. After the equalizer, things happened in quick succession: In return, the extremely strong Karlsson put the Carinthians back in front with a cross corner goal, 64 seconds later Insam poked a rebound over the line to make it 2-2. In the second third, Bozen gained a visual advantage and rewarded itself - after several missed opportunities - with the first lead: Sylvestre, who was once again eye-catching, sent Alberga on his way with a brilliant pass, which remained cool alone in front of goalkeeper Maxwell and scored the deserved third :3. However, because the HCB backline revealed some weaknesses in contrast to the Salzburg game and Villach often offered space, the guests quickly got back into the game. First Fraser made it 2:3 after an energetic start, shortly afterwards Collins took advantage of a mistake by goalkeeper Irving and scored to give VSV the lead again. Bozen was by no means shocked by the double blow - on the contrary: when a shot was deflected, Frank was in the right position and directed the puck into the net to make it 3-4. Flemming provides the lucky punch The last 20 minutes were characterized by a fight and offered only a few playful highlights. The HCB managed the lucky punch to make it 5:4 around eight revolutions of the pointer before the end: a shot from the advanced Marchetti directed Flemming into the goal and caused boundless celebration in the ice wave filled with 2.725 spectators. Bozen then holed up at the back and successfully managed to keep their narrow lead over time - also thanks to a wide-awake Leland Irving between the posts. The 6:4 by Bardaro, which the attacker scored in the last second of the game, was the final point of a successful white-red ice hockey evening.

There will be no time for the HCB to rest in the next few days: On Saturday, captain Anton Bernard and Co. will be guests in the Czech Republic at HC Znojmo, and 24 hours later there will be a duel with Vienna in the Erste Bank Arena in Vienna/Kagran Capitals.
