Sylvestre is the Znojmo terror: HCB wins again

Calm on defense, ice-cold on offense: With this recipe, HCB Südtirol Alperia also had success in the Czech Republic. The 4-2 triumph against Znojmo was the sixth win in a row. The outstanding player on the ice was Sébastien Sylvestre, who shone with a brace. The Foxes' top scorer emphasized that Znojmo is his favorite opponent this year: in the first game of the season (6:9) he scored 0 times and on Saturday he scored 3 times.

HCB backup Justin Fazio also left a strong impression - but with one flaw: the goalie finally received his eligibility to play in the last few days after weeks of waiting and made his debut on Saturday. Fazio held confidently, but made a serious mistake when he let a harmless shot slip between the pads and thus made it 1-4.

Sylvestre with a brace, Bernard with a dream goal Without the still injured Jamie Arniel and Dan Catenacci (both knee problems), the HCB struggled with Znojmo in the opening minutes, but later got better and better. The 1-0 in the 18th minute was logical and deserved: After a shot by Stefano Giliati and the save by Znojmo goalie Teemu Lassila, the puck remained next to the goal, Sylvestre reacted with presence of mind and pushed the puck into the box.

With the score 1-0 the sides were changed. After the break, Znojmo initially had more of the game, but created few chances. Fazio was always on hand for the few deals that were made. On the other side, Marco Insam missed a huge chance and failed in a 1-on-1 duel with Lassila against the crossbar. When Znojmo's thoughts were probably already in the dressing room, the HCB struck again: Sylvestre's shot during a power-numbered situation hit the bottom corner - just 5 seconds before the third break. Trembling at the end The HCB obviously didn't want to rest on their laurels. Only 26 seconds had been played in the final third when Anton Bernard made it 3-0 with a wonderful backhand shot into the top corner - a dream goal from the captain. But the Foxes didn't have enough of that. And so another South Tyrolean went one better: Daniel Frank stood in the right place during a commotion and netted. This was his 4th goal of the season.

After the 4-0 win, things seemed to be over, but then Znojmo sensed a sense of fresh air after Fazio's mistake. When Boruta made it 2-4 a few seconds later, the impossible still seemed possible. But with some strong saves, Fazio held on to victory.

The HCB, which is now in fourth place in the table, continues on Sunday with the away game in Vienna.
