Graz scrapes the Foxes off the top of the table

When the game was over, the Bolzano cracks celebrated taking the lead in the table. However, with the knowledge in mind that if she wins in Graz it will be gone again. And that's how it happened: the 99ers won 0:3 against the KAC after being 6:3 behind (see also last paragraph in this article) .

Petan takes the early lead The HCB got off to a perfect start in the game. After Fehervar's Timotej Silla hit the crossbar in front of many young South Tyrolean ice hockey players, Alex Petan gave the Foxes the lead (4th). After a breakthrough and subsequent cross pass from Brett Findlay, the Italian-Canadian made it 1-0. As a result, the Bolzano team, with Jake Smith standing in for goalkeeper Leland Irving, didn't seem comfortable. Fehervar was hardly necessarily dangerous, but the record of 6:2 shots on goal in favor of the Hungarians shows that the HCB was anything but superior in the first third. Out of nowhere: The Hungarians score the equalizer Bolzano also initially lacked penetration in the second third. The biggest upset was when a spectator in the stands was hit in the face by the puck. The result was a gaping wound and broken glasses. Meanwhile, the Bolzano fans sent a solidarity greeting to the neighboring province of Belluno. There had also been bad storms there in the past few days.

On the ice the game picked up a bit after half an hour. After a nice move, Daniel Frank put the puck in front of the goal, but because no Bolzano player was there, the Fehervar defense was able to clear. Less than three minutes later there was a rattle in the Bolzano housing. Csanad Erdely held the puck behind the HCB goal for a long time and served the advanced Bence Stipsicz at exactly the right moment - the 1:1 out of nowhere. The Foxes responded. First, Marco Insam wasted the chance after a solo effort, then Markus Nordlund failed in the penalty killing with a backhander to Fehervar goalkeeper MacMillan Carruth (36th). Catenacci and Petan shoot Bozen to the top of the table The final third started with a bang. After just 20 seconds, Daniel Catenacci gave the Foxes the lead. Findlay played the 25-year-old free, he went around the goalkeeper and scored to make it 2-1. At this point the HCB was the league leader. But Fehervar was still dangerous: If the Hungarians remained pale in the second third, they now wanted an equalizer at all costs. Bozen countered, Fehervar stepped on the accelerator. Ten minutes before the end, Matt MacKenzie had to go into the icebox, the Hungarians pressed vehemently to make it 2-2 in the power play - and almost equalized. Janos Hari shot from the blue line, Geiger was still there and deflected the puck centimeters wide of the goal (50). But instead of equalizing, Fehervar conceded the third goal. Petan was cleared in the power play by Angelo Miceli and Ivan Deluca and hammered the rubber disc under the crossbar - the final score was 3-1.

Meanwhile in Vienna there was a debacle for the home team. The Capitals, still top of the table after 12 matchdays without defeat, suffered their fifth defeat in a row. And what a match: the Austrians lost 3:9 against Znojmo. Graz, on the other hand, recovered from a 0-3 deficit and won against KAC 6-3. This means that Graz are the new league leaders. Graz scrapes the Foxes off the top of the table

In the Sunday evening game, HCB Südtirol Alperia celebrated a 3-1 victory over Fehervar in their home ice wave. In the end the victory was deserved, even if the Hungarians were able to stand up to the Bolzano team for a long time.
