VIDEO | This Halmo campaign causes outrage

HCB player Mike Halmo is once again a topic of conversation - and not because of his outstanding technical skills, but because of an action that resulted in a serious injury. The Canadian collided badly with Patrick Bjorkstrand in the away game against Villach on Tuesday evening (SportNews reports). Halmo ran towards the bank without a stick, but then swerved and hit the VSV crack with full force. The referees did not punish the action, probably because it was not clear whether Halmo's change of direction was really aimed at Bjorkstrand or at the player with the puck. Shortly before, a caning against the Bolzano player had gone unpunished - which could have fueled the reaction of Halmo, who has acquired the bad boy image through similar actions in the past. We are now eagerly awaiting a decision from the Sports Court (DOPS): If this is based on malicious intent, Halmo could face a ban of up to 3 games. Bjorkstrand, who remained motionless on the ice for minutes after the collision, is now in Villach State Hospital with a severe concussion.
