The game was just a minute old when the Canadian, playing for HC Bozen, overcame Fehérvár center Tero Koskiranta and smashed his skates into the boards. The plexiglass pane could not withstand the sharp runners and shattered into thousands of pieces. Koskiranta quickly got back on his feet, but the referees who rushed to the scene had to fumble the shards of glass out of his jersey neckline for the first time.
