Villach pulls the Foxes’ teeth

Villach coach Rob Daum used the international break to change his lines. His counterpart, HCB head coach Glen Hanlon, had warned about his former Znojmo protégé Anthony Luciani before the duel. But it wasn't him who posed the biggest problems for the HCB defense in the 3-6 defeat in Villach.

Alexander Rauchwald was the match winner in Villach. The Carinthian striker scored the first two goals and ensured the final South Tyrolean knockout with an empty net goal after a hectic and eventful final third with six goals. HCB goalkeeper Sam Harvey had previously kept his team in the game with several brilliant saves. Christian Thomas also proved to be a power play specialist in Carinthia. The Canadian brought the Foxes into the majority twice. But whenever HC Bozen got a whiff of a comeback, VSV followed up. The most important scenes of the game Slow start There are hardly any interesting scenes in the first third. Frank appears dangerously in front of the VSV goal once, but that's about it for the highlights. Both teams don't allow anything. Villach double strike After HCB goalie Harvey was able to excel twice at the beginning of the middle third (including in a 1-on-1 with Collins), he is powerless against a Rauchwald double strike. The HCB paid dearly for defensive mistakes, such as Dustin Gazley's bad pass before the counterattack to make it 2:5. Although the South Tyroleans were able to keep the match open until shortly before the end, the Foxes were not really close to winning a point in Carinthia. Daniel Frank's 500th match in the HCB dress ended in disappointment. Despite the defeat, Bolzano remains top of the table.

Villach pulls the Foxes’ teeth

HCB Südtirol Alperia has returned to everyday life in the ICE Hockey League after the international break. For captain Daniel Frank, who made his 500th appearance for Bozen on Tuesday evening against Villacher SV, and his teammates there was nothing to gain.
