When arrogance is punished

Over 100 Füchse fans made the trip to Asiago to encourage the HCB forward. The duel between the league leaders and the holder of the Red Lantern of the ICE Hockey League should be one that the coaches will not have liked due to the many mistakes on both sides. But the 1800 spectators got their money's worth: it went up and down, both teams played with their sights open and played a game that definitely had a derby character. Ultimately, the home team sensationally retained the upper hand 17-4 thanks to a goal 3 seconds before the end.

It was not to be expected that it would even come to this after 21 minutes. At this point, Asiago, which had recently lost seven games in a row, was already leading 3-0. The South Tyroleans were completely beside themselves, but then woke up. A goal from Brad McClure served as the initial spark for a comeback that almost resulted in a win. However, the three assists from wing genius Dustin Gazley were just as worthless in the end as the saves from Samuel Harvey, who once again made a strong impression despite having to reach behind him three times. Anthony Salinitri ultimately became the match winner, finishing one of the many counterattacks ice-cold.

The Foxes have two things to contend with this evening. On the one hand, they were absent for 21 minutes, and on the other hand, they achieved shockingly little in all five power plays. This is not how HCB Südtirol Alperia imagined their first guest appearance in Asiago in almost 10 years. The league leaders lost in dramatic fashion after a disastrous first third. Rather than the defeat itself, the performance raises questions.
