In Meran: The HCB defends the tournament title

At the beginning, Bozen set the tone and pushed hard on the accelerator. Brad MC Clurce took advantage of a misunderstanding between two Kaufbeuren players, got the target and scored to take the lead 1-0. Bozen continued to push for another goal. Kaufbeuren found its first big chance just a minute before the first half-time tea, but Bozen goalkeeper Andreas Bernard destroyed it with a brilliant save. In the second half of the game, both teams increased the tempo and the spectators saw an open and exciting game. First, Bolzano survived a double outnumbered situation that lasted almost a minute without any damage. In return, the Foxes took advantage of a power play in the 37th minute and were able to increase the score to 2-0 through Scott Valentine. But Kaufbeuren scored his first goal just a minute later through Joey Lewis and reduced the score to 1:2. With this close score we went into the second break. Just under a minute had been played after the last break when Bozen restored their two-goal lead in another outnumbered situation. Miceli saw the unmarked Mike Frattin, played a perfect pass and Frattin scored from a tight angle for a 3-1 lead. Mike Halmo extended this further with his goal in the 48th minute. But Kaufbeuren did not give up. Simon Schütz brought the German team to 2:4 ten minutes before the final whistle. Just four minutes before the end, Kaufbeuren put everything on one card and took his goalie off the ice for a sixth skater. But the risk was not rewarded. Angelo Miceli made the final score 5-2 with his empty-net goal six seconds before the end. In Meran: The HCB defends the tournament title

HC Bozen defeated ESV Kaufbeuren 5-2 in the final of this year's Hansjörg Brunner Memorial and celebrated a successful defense of their title.
