In Neumarkt the duel of opposites is rising

One thing is clear, the signs couldn't be more different: champion Ritten has five wins from six games, leads the table with 15 points and a goal difference of 26:10. The Wild Geese, on the other hand, are still without a single point after six games and have been waiting for a goal for 126 minutes. Neumarkt has never won a game against Ritten since the AHL was founded.

And yet, now of all times, in times of crisis, a spark of hope is emerging among the people of Unterland. This is not without reason, because while Ritten had to give up for the first time against Asiago at the weekend, Neumarkt showed significant improvement, especially in defense, in the narrow 0-1 defeat in the difficult away game against Feldkirch. The upcoming debut of new signing Joe Harcharik, who arrived in Neumarkt at the beginning of the week, also gives hope. The Wild Goose remain blatant outsiders, but a surprise coup against the almost overwhelming Rittner doesn't seem impossible - and could probably herald the longed-for turnaround.

Val Gardena hosts Feldkirch The purely South Tyrolean duel in the Würtarena is scheduled for Wednesday at 20 p.m. Half an hour later, the first puck is thrown in at Pranives in Wolkenstein. There the HC Gröden welcomes the VEU Feldkirch. The Ladins have been without a win since their 3-2 win on the first matchday against Neumarkt and are therefore under a lot of pressure in front of their home team. They will do everything they can to pull the lever against Feldkirch and take a step out of the bottom of the table. Excitement should also be guaranteed in this match.

The much-quoted image of David versus Goliath seems tailor-made for the clash between the pointless underdog from Neumarkt and Ligakrösus Ritten. But is the outcome of Wednesday's AHL match really that predictable?
