Azzurri waste tournament victory

The Blue Team was able to compete in the four-person tournament in Gdansk (Poland). Comeback win against Hungary and the Shutout win against the hosts Although they were still convincing over long stretches, they put on a sobering weak performance at the end against the bottom team, Japan, who still had no points. In the end, Italy clearly lost 1:4.

Another HCB striker scores Ivan Deluca actually got off to a promising start in the final game on Sunday evening. The Sterzinger scored in the power play to make it 1-0, making it the sixth goal by an HCB player (out of a total of seven goals for the Italians).

In the second period, however, the Asians turned the tables and took a 2-1 lead with goals from Suzuki and Takahashi. Instead of the Azzurri's expected reaction, the Japanese scored two more goals in the final period: Nakajima and Sato closed the bag and gave their team their first points at the EIHC.

The Blue Team ends its last appearance in 2019 with a defeat and the Euro Ice Hockey Challenge in second place. In the end, the Hungarians were able to celebrate as tournament winners. Euro Ice Hockey Challenge in Gdansk (POL) Sunday's results:
