The World Cup schedule is set: Blue Team is testing against its neighbors

The Blue Team's first preparation camp begins next week, almost exactly a month before the first World Cup game on May 21st. 24 national players who earn their money in Sweden, Switzerland, Hungary and Austria, among others, will prepare for the World Cup in the ice wave from Tuesday. Since numerous potential World Cup drivers are still missing, the squad will be increased by half a dozen U20 national players. Andreas Bernard, Diego Kostner and Co. will spend six days working on their form in Bolzano. The instructions are given by assistant coaches Giorgio De Bettin and Riku-Petteri Lehtonen, who represent their “boss” Greg Ireland. He is currently leading HC Bozen through the ICE final and will not be present at the first training camp. However, Ireland will join the team by May 1st at the latest, when Italy will face France in a friendly in Aosta. The return match in Megeve follows the next day. However, the Azzurri will play preparatory games against two other neighbors: On May 4th they will face Switzerland away, and on May 8th and 9th there will be two duels with Austria in the ice wave. A week later, the national team will set off for Riga, where there will be two days of individual isolation and two days of team quarantine before the opening game against Germany on May 21st. Italy's ice hockey association took a long time, but now there is clarity. The long preparation phase for the World Championships in Riga in May begins next Tuesday. One person is missing, however: head coach Greg Ireland.
