Finland and the Czech Republic on course for the quarterfinals at the World Cup

In Group A in Kosice, Finland beat Denmark 3-1. In Italy's Group B in Bratislava, the Czech Republic won what was perhaps the decisive duel with Latvia 6-3.

The Czechs decided the game in their favor with four goals in the middle third. Latvia took a 7-2 lead in a double power play through Miks Indrasis (0th) and a solo by Lauris Darzins from their own third (14th/PP). To the delight of the thousands of Czech fans, Filip Hronek (26th), Jan Kovar (32nd), captain Jakub Voracek (38th), man of the game with two goals and two assists, and Jakub Vrana (39th) turned the match around in the second Game section.

In the evening game, 18-year-old Kaapo Kakko made up for the Danish lead with his sixth goal of the tournament (26th) and is jointly ahead in the top scorers list with the Russian Yevgeny Dadonov. Sakari Manninen (35th) and Harri Pesonen (52nd) shot the Suomi team to victory.

Canada (5:2 against France) and Sweden (9:1 against Austria) were already victorious in the afternoon.
