Ireland will subject its protégés to a series of fitness and endurance tests. He is assisted by several CONI doctors, as well as his assistants Giorgio De Bettin, Riku-Petteri Lehtonen, Fabio Armani and Diego Scandella. After the training camp, the latter is expected to start working as a youth promoter at HC Pustertal. The support staff will look after a total of 23 players in Formia, including several experienced cracks such as Thomas Larkin, Marco Insam, Tommaso Traversa and Luca Frigo. Ireland's first squad, which consists exclusively of field players, also includes twelve South Tyroleans. A second training camp is planned for mid-August.
