The anticipation for the U18 World Cup in the 1st Division – Group A for young women is particularly great and almost noticeable. After all, the first face-off will take place next Monday, January 9th. Six nations – Italy, Austria, Germany, Hungary, France and Norway – are taking part in the event at the Ritten Arena and playing for promotion to the top division. It is a great honor for the hosts from Ritten Sport: “We are proud and happy. The preparations are almost complete. We are ready and are convinced that it will be a great World Cup. Entry to the tournament is free, so of course we hope to welcome as many fans as possible,” explained Roberto Rampoldi, President of Rittner Buam SkyAlps, at the media event.

The Italian team is also looking forward to the home World Cup. “We will give everything. Our big goal is of course promotion, but we are all aware that we will be competing against very strong opponents,” said captain Saskia Rohregger from SV Kaltern. The tournament on the Ritten is particularly special for Manuela Heidenberger, because she is at home in Oberbozen, just a few kilometers from the stadium. “For me, of course, this is the highest thing there is. I discovered ice hockey at Ritten, and now playing a tournament of this magnitude there is really a dream,” said the 15-year-old happily at the press conference. An important tournament with a view to the 2026 Winter Olympics Not only the hosts and players, but also the Italian association FISG are excited for the World Cup. “It was clear to all of us that Ritten was perfect for this major event. These tournaments are valuable for our association and Italian ice hockey. Women's ice hockey is growing, including here in Italy. We support that and of course – we also want to be successful, especially with a view to the 2026 Olympic Games in our country,” said Thomas Rottensteiner, Vice President of the Italian Ice Sports Federation FISG.

In addition to the U18 World Cup for young women, two other major events were presented as part of the media event in Bolzano. Once the Rittner Buam SkyAlps managed to qualify for the final round of the IHL Serie A. “The participants for this tournament within the tournament were determined based on the Italian duels in the cross-border Alps Hockey League. The Italian championship title will be played in a round robin. The duels will be played between February 7th and 11th,” explained Marcello Cobelli, FISG ice hockey manager. The two teams in first and second place in the table have two home games, the other two one.

“Around 45 teams from all over Europe have already registered. We are really happy,” said OK boss Alexander Rottensteiner. After two corona-related cancellations in a row, people in Klobenstein are of course full of anticipation: “For us, Pond Hockey combines hockey with fun. It's about competition, but also about being together. “You meet friends from other countries again and then give it your all on the ice,” said Alexander Egger, the captain of the three-time tournament winner “The Huskies.” The importance of these sporting events for the Ritten was also emphasized to those present by Paul Lintner (Mayor of the Municipality of Ritten), Wolfgang Holzer (President of the Ritten Tourism Association) and Peter Göller from the main sponsor Raika Ritten.
