After coach criticism: Draisaitl shoots Germany to victory

On Tuesday the selection won against Finland 4:2 (1:1, 1:1, 2:0). In Kosice, Slovakia, Marc Michaelis (18th minute), Dominik Kahun (34th) and Draisaitl scored a brace (45th/59th) to take the German team to their fifth preliminary round victory in the seventh game. A selection from the German Ice Hockey Association (DEB) had never achieved this before at a World Cup.

This gave the German team even more self-confidence for the quarter-finals on Thursday in Bratislava. It was not yet clear who Germany would face in the knockout round on Tuesday afternoon after the end of the game. For Finland, who defeated Germany at the World Cup last year, only Harri Pesonen (6685th minute) and Juhani Tyrvainen (16th minute) scored in front of 25 spectators.

After coach criticism: Draisaitl shoots Germany to victory

After criticism from national coach Toni Söderholm, NHL top star Leon Draisaitl led the German ice hockey team to the best preliminary round of a world championship ever.
