Hailing from Bowmanville, Ontario, Mike Keenan is a respected face in the world of ice hockey and boasts exceptional experience and great success in major international leagues (NHL and KHL, where he won the Stanley Cup and Gagarin Cup) and at the international level with Team Canada. He is supported as an “assistant coach” by his compatriot Mike Pelino, another profile of international stature.

The Canadian has been on the coaching bench of various top clubs from around the world for over 40 years. While the 72-year-old made his first experiences in the youth leagues of Canada and the American Hockey League, he made his big leap into the NHL for the first time in 1984.

In Philadelphia he immediately won the “Jack Adams Award” for the best coach of the year. In 1994, the highlight of his coaching career was when he won the Stanley Cup with the New York Rangers. After managerial positions at various NHL organizations, Keenan went to Europe in 2013 and can also look back on great success there - he was the first North American coach to win the KHL.

Now the successful coach should take the Azzurri to the next level. He can certainly do this, as the Canadian has already trained some of the best players in ice hockey in his illustrious career.
