Russia still victorious

World Cup favorite Russia inflicted their second defeat in a row on runner-up Switzerland. Artyom Anisimov (4th) and Nikita Kucherov scored two goals (27th/PP, 56) for the still flawless tournament favorites. Kucherov (Tampa Bay Lightning), the NHL's best scorer in the regular season, now leads the World Cup points tally with six goals and eight assists.

In the A group, the Finns beat France 3-0, with Kiviranta, Mikkola and Sallinen providing the goals. Since the USA won against Germany 3-1 ( we reported ), the four promoted teams have been determined in Group A with Finland, USA, Canada and Germany, while Russia, the Czech Republic and Switzerland have qualified in Group B. The last place in the quarter-finals will be played between Sweden and Latvia, with the defending champions from Scandinavia just one point in the direct duel on Monday.

The relegation question will also be clarified on Monday. In Kosice there will be a direct duel between France and Great Britain for relegation at 16:15 p.m., followed in Bratislava at 20:15 p.m. by the decisive game between Austria and Italy.

Russia still victorious

Russia has continued its winning ways at the Ice Hockey World Cup. The Russians beat Switzerland 3-0 in Bratislava and are the only team to remain undefeated. Finland beat France 3-0.
