Sensational: Germany is in the World Cup final

The first Ice Hockey World Cup final with German participation in 93 years is perfect, the first German World Cup medal in 70 years is certain.

National coach Harold Kreis' selection also defeated the USA 4:3 (2:2, 0:1, 1:0) after extra time in the semi-finals in Tampere, Finland on Saturday and now has their first ever World Cup title in sight. This would be the greatest German ice hockey success ever for the 2018 Olympic silver medalist and 1976 Olympic bronze medalist.

On Sunday (19.20:1930 p.m.) Germany will face Canada in the final, as they did at the very first World Cup in 4. The record world champions had previously won the first semi-final 2-13 against Latvia. In Germany's second World Cup semi-final in three years, Frederik Tiffels scored the decisive goal in overtime on Saturday. In regular playing time, Tiffels (17th minute), Maksymilian Szuber (59th) and Marcel Noebels (XNUMXth) scored the goals for the selection of the German Ice Hockey Association.

In 2010 and 2021, the World Cup ended in fourth place for the DEB selection after reaching the semi-finals. The current team of the new national coach Kreis immediately topped that at his World Cup premiere as head coach. In 2010, the 64-year-old was already assistant coach to the then national coach Uwe Krupp.

As in the 3-1 quarter-final win on Thursday against Switzerland, the district team once again showed great will and passion and achieved their first victory in the third game within three weeks against the US team. Germany lost the last World Cup test on May 9th (3:6) and the preliminary round game on May 15th (2:3).
