A former native of Bolzano is happy with the Stanley Cup winners

Frank Pietrangelo's nephew Alex lifted the Stanley Cup last night (CEST) as captain of the St. Louis Blues. It is the absolute highlight of the 29-year-old defender's career, who has already played for Canada at the World Championships and the Olympic Games. With 16 assists and 3 goals, he was the playoff defense player with the highest points, at the same time he underlined his status as one of the best offensive defenders in the world and played a decisive role in helping his team win the title.

After his stint in Bolzano, the Canadian goalie moved to HC Asiago, with whom he lost to Sterzing in the playoff quarter-finals the following season. He then ended his career in Manchester.

Pietrangelo is now living back in his hometown in southern Canada, where he is the owner and coach of the Niagara Falls Canucks junior team - and is also able to celebrate his family's next Stanley Cup triumph.

Former goalkeeper Frank Pietrangelo led HC Bozen to the championship title in 1997, and years before he won the Stanley Cup with Pittsburgh. Now the largest club trophy in the world is once again going to the Pietrangelo family home.
