Islanders evict Ovechkin and the Caps

The underdog from Long Island defeated the 2018 champion, the Washington Capitals, 4-0 on Thursday and won the series overall by an unexpectedly clear 4-1.

In addition to the Islanders, the Dallas Stars also made it into the conference semifinals early. Driven by four-time goalscorer Denis Gurianov, the Texans swept the Calgary Flames off the ice 7:3 and sealed their early exit in the series by 4:2.

The Montreal Canadiens and the Philadelphia Flyers (2:3) are fighting for the remaining second round tickets in the east, as well as Vancouver and defending champion St. Louis (3:2) in the west. These duels will continue next night (CEST).
