NHL wants to start season on January 13th

The North American professional ice hockey league NHL wants to start the new season on January 13th with a shortened format. The league and players reached a tentative agreement under which each team would play 56 games in the regular season instead of the usual 82. This was confirmed by Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly.
