Pittsburgh secures home advantage for the first play-off round

Pittsburgh (SID) Two-time Stanley Cup winner Tom Kühnhackl has secured home rights with defending champion Pittsburgh Penguins in the first play-off round of the North American professional ice hockey league NHL. The “Pens” defeated the Ottawa Senators 4-0 in their own arena and thus secured second place in the Metropolitan Division behind conference winners Washington Wizards. Second place is a good omen for Pittsburgh. In the last two seasons, coach Mike Sullivan's team secured the title with this starting position. The 50-year-old American Sullivan was satisfied with his team after the comfortable win against Ottawa. "It's so much fun to train these guys. They want to win, they're really competitive guys," said Sullivan, who was also a player in the NHL. With one goal and one assist each, superstar Sidney Crosby and Phil Kessel each scored two scorer points. Tom Kühnhackl, however, remained without a score. With a total of 92 and 89 points, respectively, Kessel and Crosby are seventh and tenth in the NHL rankings. Number one is Leon Draisaitl's teammate on the Edmonton Oilers, Connor McDavid, with 106 points.
