Thomas Di Pauli: “I miss the Wiener Schnitzel”

On June 23, 2012, the 25-year-old from Überetscher was the first South Tyrolean to be drafted. The Washington Capitals drafted the forward in the 4th round as the 100th player overall. “That was a very special moment for me. The draft was at the stadium in Pittsburgh and my family was there with me. The Washington Capitals are a great organization,” recalls Di Pauli, who emigrated to the USA with his family in the summer of 2006. On January 4th of this year, Di Pauli was first South Tyrolean played an NHL game : With the Pittsburgh Penguins he celebrated a narrow win against the Montreal Canadiens (3:2 nV) at the “Bell Centre”. “In the morning, Pittsburgh coach Mike Sullivan told me I would play that evening. I was very happy because it meant that my childhood dream would finally come true,” says Di Pauli.
