Why an NHL star stays fit in Asiago

Galchenyuk was born into ice hockey, as his father Alexander put him on skates when he was just 20 months old. The 25-year-old only really started playing the sport in Asiago. The reason for this was his father, who played on the high plateau from 1999 to 2001 and won a championship title with the Stellati.

This summer, father and son returned to their old place of work for the second year in a row to teach the little ones ice hockey at a summer camp. At this, Alex made his entire class flash.

A steep career Galchenyuk's great talent was discovered early on, so scouts became aware of the 1.85 tall winger and guided him to North America, where he made it to the USA U20 national team through strong performances.

In 2012, Milwaukee-born Galchenyuk was selected third overall in the NHL draft by the Montreal Canadiens. After six seasons in Canada, he moved to the Arizona Coyotes last summer before moving to the Pittsburgh Penguins this year. There Galchenyuk wants to relaunch his somewhat stalled career. His numbers are nonetheless impressive. In 518 games in the best league in the world he has so far collected 309 scorer points.
