Italy begins its World Cup preparations in Neumarkt

The B World Championship in the Hungarian capital begins on April 14th. Until then, the “Azzurri” want to use the time to optimally prepare for the title fights. After the triumph in 2011, the Blue Team is aiming for the next tournament victory and thus an immediate return to the elite of international ice hockey. It is also important to confirm the positive impressions from the Olympic qualification tournament in Bietigheim.

The national players will be in the Würth Arena on Wednesday by 15 p.m. A total of 27 skid cracks are part of Tom Pokel's squad, who initially has to make do without the players from the two finalists Asiago and Valpellice.

Scelfo and Caletti new to the team In contrast to the short training camp last weekend, Emanuel Scelfo and Edoardo Caletti also made it into the squad this time. While the Ritten offensive player already played for Italy in Bietigheim, the Milan striker is being put to the test after his consistent performances during the Serie A season.

However, Caletti's teammate Matt De Marchi and HC Pustertal defender Christian Willeit are not included in the squad. They were still in action at the Olympic qualification in Germany. Pokel has called up a total of 15 South Tyroleans for the training camp in Neumarkt. This does not include Luca Ansoldi from Merano, who stayed at home, as did Dan Tudin from Ritten Sport. However, the latter is not yet fully fit and is initially acting as a reserve.

The program in Neumarkt

The national team is staying at the Hotel Teutschhaus in Kurtinig during their training stay in the Unterland. The first training takes place on Wednesday from 17 p.m. to 18.30:11 p.m. Training will take place twice a day until April 5th, and there will also be four test matches on the program. On April 6th and 18.30th, the "Azzurri" will travel to Maribor, where they will meet the Slovenian national team twice. The game starts at 18:9 p.m. or 20 p.m. Italy will then test against Austria twice in the Würth Arena. The first friendly match will be played on Tuesday, April XNUMXth at XNUMX p.m., the second one day later at the same time.
