Jan Pavlu is moving to EHC Bayreuth in the German top league

The 20-year-old South Tyrolean learned to play ice hockey in Bolzano. In 2009, at the age of 15, he moved to Germany to join the Jungadler Mannheim in the DNL, with whom he won the title a total of three times. After his successful work in the DNL, Pavlu moved on to Salzburg, where he took part in the MHL junior league with the Red Bulls farm team last season. The Russian league, in which teams from several European countries take part, is considered one of the strongest youth leagues in the world.

Pavlu has also already gained experience in the Italian national jersey. He took part in the U18 World Cup twice and the U20 World Cup twice. Last year he also participated in the World Cup preparations with the senior team. Now a new adventure begins for the young man from Bolzano with the EHC Bayreuth Tigers in Germany's third highest league. Before he goes on the ice in Bayreuth, according to team manager Dietmar Habnitt, he will train with ERC Ingolstadt.

“Bayreuth was very interested in signing me and I would like to gain a foothold in the senior sector. I think this is a great opportunity for me to get into the professional game through a top team in the major leagues. If I'm honest, I don't know that much about the league and Bayreuth yet. My only contact with German professional ice hockey was over two years ago, when I was allowed to train with Red Bull Munich for almost three months. I am open to new experiences and it will definitely be exciting for me. If you're honest, the only thing that counts in ice hockey is success. But it can only be controlled to a limited extent. I just want to find my game quickly and use my strengths to help the team as much as possible in order to play successfully,” Pavlu is quoted as saying on the EHC Bayreuth website.
