Great weather at the 1st European Pond Hockey Championship on Ritten

Halftime at Ritten at the 1st European Championship in Pond Hockey. Spectators were able to see a total of 131 preliminary round games in the Klobenstein ice ring. In wonderful but cold winter weather, 42 teams from South Tyrol, Italy, Austria, Germany, Lichtenstein and Switzerland gave their best. Among the 42 teams there were also 2 women's teams that performed more than respectably and often showed off their technique.

The supporting program is not neglected on Saturday either. The marquee begins operations at 10 a.m. After the awards ceremony (around 19.30 p.m.), a DJ festival starts in the marquee with well-known DJs Ivan Fillini, Matty Valentino, DJ Carlo, Alibi DJ and Bigcity Beasts.

A special highlight that you can also take part in on Saturday is the “skills competition”. Whoever collects the most points in the disciplines of hardest shot, target shooting and most accurate pass can call themselves the owner of an original Vespa.

Game mode: Each team consists of a maximum of six players, with three against three played on small goals and without a goalkeeper in a preliminary round and a subsequent knockout round. The game duration is 12 minutes in the preliminary round and 20 minutes in the playoffs (from the semi-finals onwards). The size of the playing area is approximately 12 x 30 meters.

Each division consists of four groups of a maximum of eight teams, with the four best-placed teams advancing to the knockout phase after the group phase. The play-offs begin with the round of 16 and end with the final at the end of the tournament.

Wonderful, albeit ice-cold, weather marked the first day of the 1st European Pond Hockey Championship in Klobenstein am Ritten. The last preliminary round games continue on Saturday at 10 a.m. before the hot phase, i.e. playoffs, begins in the afternoon at 14 p.m.
