Luca Ansoldi will bake smaller rolls in the future

For Luca Ansoldi it is a return to his roots. The 34-year-old striker grew up in the ice hockey ranks of Merano. From 1999 to 2004 he played for the Adler in Serie A. Other stops in the first division included Ritten, Bozen and Cortina, with Ansoldi achieving the rare feat of winning the Italian championship with all three teams. In 727 Serie A games, the striker collected 580 points (196 goals, 294 assists). He also won the Serie A2 title with HC Milan. He can also look back on a long and successful past with the Italian national team, with which Ansoldi took part in world championships and the Olympic Games. “I am pleased that Luca has decided to return to Meran to hunt for goals for us,” HCM coach Max Ansoldi is quoted on the HCM Junior website about his younger brother’s transfer.

For Roland Pircher from Vinschger, it is a return to the place where he celebrated his greatest success. The 39-year-old defender was part of the legendary championship team in 1998/99 when the Adler secured the Serie A title in a thrilling final against HC Bozen. In total, the defender completed six seasons in the Passerstädter jersey before hanging up his skates in 2005. In 2013, he made his comeback to his hometown club AHC Vinschgau, where he served as captain until last season. “I have wanted Roland to return to Meran for a long time and I am pleased that he has decided to put on the Adler jersey again. He is an experienced defender who will certainly bring the necessary calm and overview to our defense,” concluded Ansoldi.
