Luca Franza returns to HCB Südtirol

Franza grew up in the HCB youth sector and made his debut in the first team in the 2010/11 season. The following year he was loaned out to the U20 of HC Eppan and to Pergine in Serie A2, before donning the EV Bozen 84 jersey for a season.

Franza returned to the “Foxes” for the first time in the summer of 2013. In the championship year, the defender played almost exclusively at HC Bozen Junior and was on the ice once in the EBEL. Franza spent the 2014/15 season in the ranks of SV Kaltern and completed two further appearances in the EBEL before finally becoming part of the Bozen squad the following season. After 43 league games, the powerful left-shooter left HCB and moved to HC Fiemme in Serie B last year.

“I worked hard for it” After his return to the Talferstadt, Franza is bursting with energy: “Ever since I knew that there was an opportunity to play for the HCB again, I have worked hard for it. I've been training all summer and am looking forward to skating in the ice wave again. Wearing the jersey of my hometown club fills me with great pride, which is why I will give more than just 100 percent in every game.”

The defender also has clear words when it comes to his goals for the season: “We want to reach the top six – after that everything is possible. The championship won’t be easy because the teams have become more and more balanced in recent years, but we definitely don’t have to hide.”

Coach Pat Curcio sees Franzaal as the ideal addition to his back team. “With Luca we are even more well-equipped in defense. He is physically very strong and has the potential to become an important part of our squad,” said the trainer about his latest addition.

Luca Franza returns to HCB Südtirol

Luca Franza will play for HCB Südtirol again next year. The Talferstädter announced the return of the 25-year-old defender on Friday evening.
