Milan defeated Bolzano with 3-2 goals after extra time

After four years, the spectators in the Bolzano Eiswelle were finally able to see the Serie A classic again on Tuesday. Both teams competed with the announced lineups. Bozen then stayed on the trigger and had Alexander Egger on the power play to make it 3-2, but Raycroft was just able to fend off the captain's shot. Shortly before the second half-time whistle, Enrico Dorigatti also missed the White-Reds' lead from point-blank range. So after forty minutes the score remained 2-2.

The match remained very exciting in the final third. Right at the start, Gander played his strike partner Marco Insam free, but Raycroft rose above himself and blocked the shot. In the 49.50 minute, Günther Hell also showed his class on the other side with a brilliant save on Francesco Borghi. 2.33 minutes before the end of regular time, Bolzano had a great chance to close the bag with a double majority (De Marchi and Degon were in the penalty box), but they were unable to beat Andrew Raycroft. So the match had to be decided in extra time. This is the sixth time in this championship for Milan, a record.

Bozen began overtime with a minority as McCutcheon had to come off the ice. The guests immediately took advantage of the majority and decided the game with a shot from Andreas Lutz from the blue line for a 3-2 victory. For Milan it was the first win after two defeats and for Bolzano it was the fourth defeat in a row.

Bolzano will play its next championship game away in Pontebba on Thursday, October 25th. In the first leg, the white and red beat the team from Friuli with 4-1 goals.
