Markus Gander shoots Italy to victory over France - update

Markus Gander scored Italy's victory over France in their second World Cup game on Sunday. In the 59.02 minute of the game, the HCB striker made the final score 2-1 with the golden goal. For the Blue Team it was an important victory in the fight to stay in the league. However, the “Azzurri” also have to win against Denmark if they want to continue to hope to stay in the top division.

Egger and Co. showed a good performance in the first third, playing in an orderly manner and creating several chances. However, the spectators in the Chizhovka Arena had to wait until the second period before they saw the first goal. In the 30.57 minute, Laurent Meunier converted a pass from Desrosiers and gave France the lead. Just two minutes later, Scandella brought Italy back into the game and equalized to 1-1.

In the final third, the French put a lot of pressure on Italy's goalkeeper Bellissimo, who, however, held up well and skillfully blocked all shots. The game-deciding scene finally followed in the final minutes: Tudin attempted to counterattack, but was denied by France's goalie Huet. However, Markus Gander took advantage of the bounce and put the hard rubber disc into the net for a 2-1 win.

The “Azzurri” will make their next appearance at the A-World Cup on Tuesday against Denmark.

On Sunday, Italy celebrated its first victory at the A World Cup in Minsk and thus scored three important points in the fight to stay in the league. The “Azzurri” defeated France 2-1. Markus Gander scored the winning goal one minute before the end of regular time.
