If the current rules of the final series are anything to go by, Ritten would have to leave the ice on Saturday evening as the winner. So far there have only been away wins in the three games. Sounds somewhat paradoxical. In reality it is. Just not for the two teams. The final series in 2014 followed a similar path: Back then, the away team was victorious five times in a row - it was only in the 6th game that Ritten came up trumps in front of their own audience and was crowned champions. “I have no explanation for something like that,” admits Max Oberrauch, striker at HC Pustertal. “Maybe you have more pressure in your own stadium, while at the opponent's home you are a little more relaxed mentally. But I don't want to make any connections to the series from two years ago. We want to win the next game - nothing else matters.” The fact is: with a win, the Pusterers would be placing a big mortgage on the championship title. As a result, the duel on Saturday, starting at 17.30 p.m. (live on RaiSport), is considered to be of great importance, with Ritten being under pressure as on Tuesday. The cracks from the high plateau finished the regular season in first place with 100 points and didn't have to give up a single game in the play-offs, but are now running behind. “I still think it will be a long series,” analyzes Oberrauch. “We are playing against an opponent with very high quality. I don't know which of us has more pressure. Nevertheless, I enjoy these games - and if we win, that would of course be phenomenal.”

“Both goalkeepers are exceptionally strong” In order to achieve this feat, HC Pustertal has to perform decidedly differently on Saturday than in the first home game on Tuesday. At that time, the Wolves presented themselves too harmlessly, especially on offense, to embarrass an Engelage goalkeeper. “The goalkeepers are always of crucial importance in a final series - both Engelage and our goalie are currently doing an impeccable job.” So what does HC Pustertal have to do differently compared to Tuesday? “Minimize individual mistakes and deflect as many shots as possible in front of the opponent's box (exactly like Oberrauch did with his two final goals, editor's note). Furthermore, we have never taken the lead in the finals series - who knows how the game would turn out if we succeeded in this endeavor. But one thing is certain: it will be a fight again on Saturday - we are definitely ready,” said an audibly motivated Max Oberrauch.
