With top games in the second half of the season

At the start of the second half of the regular season, the Rittner Buam have two top games on the program. On Thursday, Simon Kostner & Co. will be visiting the Red Bull Juniors, and on Saturday there will be a home game against the Unterland Cavaliers.

These are two groundbreaking games against very difficult opponents, after all Salzburg is in second place and Unterland is in third place in the table. “Salzburg has a young, fast team with four equally strong lines. “They are one of the top teams every year,” says Adolf Insam about the young bulls. “Unterland has proven that they have a great team. They deserve to be at the forefront. Both games will be difficult, but we are prepared,” said the Rittner Buam sports director.

In fact, the hospital on the Ritten has thinned out somewhat. Stefan Quinz may be able to play again on Thursday, Kevin Fink has served his suspension. Tobias Graf also strengthens the squad. “We now have four full lines again – something we haven’t had available for a few weeks,” reports Insam. Head coach Santeri Heiskanen has to do without goalkeeper Hayden Hawkey and Leonhard Hasler.

Before the Cavs visit the Arena Ritten on Saturday, Unterland will face HC Gherdëina in the second South Tyrol derby on Thursday. The theme of this evening: The Furies want revenge. Because early in the season on September 22nd, the Val Gardena team were shot 1:5 out of their own arena by the league newcomers. A disgrace that one wants to iron out. But the standings confirm this result. Val Gardena is in 13th place, 8 points behind Unterland. This monster week continues for the Furie on Saturday against the Salzburg Juniors. This task will hardly be easier than the first.

For the Wipptal Broncos, however, it is important to collect a lot of points in the race for the fifth and final qualifying place. With the EHC Lustenau there is an opponent in Vipiteno who could be just right for this. Because the Vorarlbergers haven't gotten going yet this season and are in the bottom third of the table. The Zeller Eisbären are likely to present a more difficult task on Sunday. Also because Salzburg won the last two games against the Broncos.

Meanwhile, HC Meran can fully control the Zeller Eisbären, who are visiting the spa town on Thursday. With 14 points from 16 games, the Eagles have so far fallen short of expectations and seem to no longer be able to intervene in the fight for the qualification places. At the beginning of October, Meran also suffered a 1:9 defeat against the Eisbären. A result that must be prevented on Thursday.

Kaltern under pressure In the IHL, however, the Hechte from Kaltern want to defend their new league lead against the Brixen Falcons at the weekend, while their pursuers Toblach are looking to make amends against Varese.
