Back in April, Filip Kokoska & Co. were crowned champions of the Italian Hockey League, and now the Knights are causing a sensation one league higher. After the promotion they aimed for and ultimately achieved in the summer, the Cavs are now playing in the Alps Hockey League, where they sent a strong signal to the competition right from the start. The very young team defeated none other than last year's finalists Jesenice in their first league game - 5-2. Olli Hällfors' team expressed a quality that is unparalleled in the league and will pose problems for many teams: the speed, which, coupled with the delicate technique, causes a lot of damage. It is no coincidence that three of the five goals came after lightning-fast, sometimes beautifully executed counterattacks. The experienced team from Jesenice was repeatedly caught on the wrong foot - and was probably surprised by the quality of the Cavaliers. One thing is clear: Even if the league newcomer cannot conjure up these performances on the ice week after week given the team's inexperience, the reigning IHL champions are still a great asset for the AlpsHL and the ice hockey location of South Tyrol. The relegated one The operating times of the South Tyrolean ICE cracks At HC Bozen there are only four players, at HC Pustertal there are at least a few more: these are those players who come from South Tyrol. But how many of them actually come regularly? Last weekend, the fans saw a picture that was not pleasing and made them think: while at HCB only captain Daniel Frank and Andreas Bernard were constantly sent onto the ice, Daniel Glira, Raphael Andergassen, Ivan Deluca and Mathias were happy for the Wolves Mantinger about minutes of use. The problem: None of these cracks are younger than 25. In view of this, questions arise: Wouldn't Simon Berger (HCP) and Hannes Kasslatter (HCB) have earned more “time on ice” on the fourth line? Are Stefan Spinell (HCP) and Diego Glück (HCB), who are languishing on the bench or in the stands, simply not good enough or are they not being supported enough by their own coaches or the club? We believe: The second alternative is the case. The players mentioned have already proven that they can compete at this level, but at the same time they have little chance of being recommended. No matter how good their performance in preparation, training or short-term assignments, a player who has a one-two pass is usually preferred. This circumstance not only harms the players themselves, but also the clubs. Players from South Tyrol should form the core of the team and not serve as gap-fillers.
