The climbers Terrance Amorosa & Jake Cardwell When HC Gherdëina and Rittner Buam announced their commitment in the summer, many fans rubbed their eyes in surprise. Both Amorosa, who comes from the American Hockey League, and Cardwell, who was recently active in the top Slovak league, brought impressive references to South Tyrol. In the first few months of their work, the Canadians met - and sometimes even exceeded - the high expectations. Amorosa and Cardwell are quite similar in terms of the game system. Both over 1.90 meters tall, both equipped with a hammer shot and both technically adept. In 22 games they scored 35 and 34 points respectively, which puts them third and fifth in the scoring list - as defenders, mind you. But there are also differences. The HCG man can be rated much higher defensively, as the impressive + statistics prove. Amorosa has this at +3, while Cardwell only has a +5. But the latter is a bit more dangerous to score. What unites the two is their importance for their team. Because if they have a good day, there is a good chance that their own team will win. Different players. The relegated one Anthony Bardaro What happened to the noble technician who has been pampering fans with his skills in recent years? Many HC Pustertal fans are probably asking themselves this question this season. The Italian-Canadian, who was an important part of the Wolves last year, is playing well below his potential this year and his demeanor raises many questions. This can sometimes be described as listless, almost arrogant and snooty. The former goal machine almost doesn't appear on the offensive: only 12 scorer points in 26 games speak volumes. The 30-year-old collected his last point on November 25th, and since then six games have passed without contributing to a goal. What is concerning, however, is his defensive behavior. Bardaro avoids any defensive work and instead repeatedly attracts attention with arrogant losses of the puck. The fact that he and the equally disappointing Daniel Catenacci “lead” the HCP’s + rating with -11 in a negative sense is emblematic. Bardaro recently got his last year's center Johan Harju at his side, but there is still no improvement in his performance in sight.
