Pond Hockey: The “Huskies” achieve a hat trick

After a whopping 168 games, at 19.24:8 p.m. he was confirmed as the new and old European champion in pond hockey. The “Huskies” won the exciting and high-class final against HC Stommtisch with 7:XNUMX goals and were crowned European champions in pond hockey for the third time in a row.

The overwhelming favorite, whose ranks included former professionals from the DEL, EBEL and Serie A, came out on top. This year's winning team included Roland Ramoser, Lukas Martini, Alex Wedl, Günter Hell, Christian Walcher, Alexander Egger, Tino Boos and Markus Rohde.

The tournament didn’t start well for the “Huskies”. In the first group game, the defending champions even suffered a 6:7 defeat against Pond Selection and were close to a narrow 4:3 win against their eventual final opponent HC Stommtisch - also in the group phase. But the more often the skate cracks from Germany and South Tyrol played together during the tournament, the stronger and more superior they became.

In the knockout phase on Saturday, the “Huskies” initially eliminated the Geronimo Stars 19:5. In the round of 10 they had the upper hand against HC Siebeneich led by former EV Bozen captain Roland Battisti with 5:12. In the quarter-finals, the defending champion beat the “Ochs am Berg” team from Germany 8:14, before a 4:XNUMX win against the construction company Ploner meant they made it to the final.

HC Stommtisch, which lost in the final, had reached the final after victories in the knockout phase over EHC Chaoslauf (12:1), Pond James Pond (6:2/round of 5), Morgenholz (3:33/quarterfinals) and Pro Hockey 5 ( 4:XNUMX nV/semi-finals).

Huskies want to keep the challenge cup at some point “The defeat in the first group game certainly woke us up. After that we knew that we had to give 100 percent in every match if we wanted to win. The level has increased many times over compared to last year. Compliments also to Alexander Egger, who strengthened us this year and was a very important support to our team. Now it's time to step on the gas again next year so that the victory trophy (a snow shovel, editor's note) will finally be in our possession at some point," said "Huskies" captain Roland Ramoser a few minutes after the final whistle.

By the way, the new European champion can't just be happy about the snow shovel. At the invitation of the organizers, the “Huskies” will travel to Bratislava in May for the “real” Ice Hockey World Championships and watch a game live on site in Slovakia.
