Pope lets the HCB celebrate at the very last second

Just 18 hours after the 3-1 home win against the Vienna Capitals, HCB Südtirol also struck against Klagenfurter AC. The white-reds won 5-4 after extra time. Matt Pope scored the much celebrated winning goal in the ice wave just 0,8 seconds before the final siren.

The Foxes started the game better. Brückler was able to excel a few times in the early stages before he had to reach behind himself for the first time in the tenth minute. Vause served Broda in the slot, who only had to hold out the stick.

Klagenfurt always finds the right answer

The Carinthian guests then pressed for an equalizer, which they succeeded in the 17th minute. Desantis gave Hübl the advantage with a powerful shot from the blue line. Pollastrone could have put the home team back in front straight away, but the disc jumped over his head.

In the middle third the white-reds took the lead again. After a counterattack, Vause took a shot, Brückler couldn't hold on to the disc and the Bolzano attacker finally poked the disc over the line (23'). But again the KAC had the right answer and Ganahl's goal equalized (26').

As a result, the Pokel team continued to dominate the game, but Klagenfurt took the lead in the 34th minute. This time it was Geier who beat Hübl with a precise wrist shot. But the Red Jackets didn't have to be happy about it for long, because in the 36th minute Pope completed a counterattack via Egger and Saviano in an exemplary manner to make it 3-3.

Five minutes before the end, Thomas Koch made it 4:3 for the KAC, who decisively deflected a shot. But Pope equalized with his second goal just seconds later.

It went into extra time and it already looked like a penalty shootout, but Pope had nothing against it with the 5:4 not even a whole second before the siren and secured two points for the Bolzano team.

The Foxes can take a short breather on Monday before playing away against HC Innsbruck in the Tyrolean derby on Tuesday.

Pope lets the HCB celebrate at the very last second

In the duel between the record champions between HCB Südtirol and KAC, the Foxes had the upper hand on Sunday afternoon. In the last second of extra time, Pope scored the much-celebrated winning goal in the Bolzano ice wave in front of around 2200 spectators for a 5-4 home win.
