Premiere for the Foxes: First defeat in the Tyrolean derby

In the first third, Bozen was unable to take advantage of four outnumbered situations in the TIWAK Arena. The Foxes even played with two more men for 1.56:17 minutes, but the hosts' penalty killing worked flawlessly. In the XNUMXth minute, the guests celebrated a goal by Keller, but the referee team did not award the goal after using video evidence because the Bolzano attacker had pushed the puck over the line with his skate. Otherwise, there were few clear chances to score on both sides.

It was the third minute in the middle third when McMonagle had to go to the cooler for holding. The Haie immediately took advantage of the numerical advantage, as Ulmer deflected a Van Ballegooie shot unstoppable for Hübl (24'). After that, the Foxes were allowed to play with one more man (Valdix was in the penalty box), but again there was no goal for Bolzano.

As the second half of the game continued, the guests got stronger. Zisser and Gander were denied by Munro in the 29th minute. But in the middle of the South Tyroleans' pressure phase, the second goal came for Innsbuck. McMonagle had to go into the cooler again when Olsson sank a rebound into Hübl's box to make it 2-0 for the home team (33'). In the final phase, Ulmer almost made it 3-0 before Munro, on the other side, was there for Nesbitt with a good opportunity and closed the leg guards in time.

Bolzano approaches again

The final third began with two bangs. Initially Valdix missed the preliminary decision before De Simone on the other side shot just millimeters past the far corner. In the 44th minute, the Foxes' hope arose again when Keller reduced the score to 1:2 after strong work from Zanette.

In the middle of the final third, Hübl had to make two decisive interventions on Siddall and Höller before Nesbitt was denied by Munro (51'). Zisser then celebrated, but Bozen's attacker was too happy too early: the disc remained under the Innsbruck goalie. The Talferstädter sensed a chance five minutes before the end when Huber had to go into the cooler due to a delay in the game. But again the majority situation passed without a goal being scored.

In the last two minutes, Simioni took goalie Hübl off the ice for a sixth player. But the risk was not rewarded, on the contrary: Ulmer scored into the empty goal 42 seconds before the end and made the decision. Thanks to the victory, the Innsbruck team overtook the HCB in the table - the Foxes slipped to ninth place.

Premiere for the Foxes: First defeat in the Tyrolean derby
