HC Pustertal took a big step towards the final and clearly left Cortina behind in the second match. The HCP tackled the game in the Olympic Stadium with their best players, but nevertheless it was the home team who clearly set the direction in the starting phase. Doell and the recovered top scorer Dingle fired the first warning shots. However, it stayed that way at first, because as the game continued, the Wolves' counterattacks became more continuous and dangerous. This is how the HCP took a 2-0 lead towards the middle of the starting third with a quick double pack. First it was McCauley who converted a blocked O'Marra shot, then Oberrauch converted a wonderful pass from Ling. Cortina froze in shock. Erlacher took advantage of this and even increased the score to 13.04-3 after 0:4 minutes. But things were to get even worse for the Ampezzo team: Scandella made it 0-XNUMX before the first break. Previously, a timeout by Cortina coach Bedddoes had no effect.

Before the second third, Borelli made way for Baur in the home team's goal. He kept his box clean for the first twenty minutes, but after the last break Baur also had to reach behind himself for the first time. He was powerless against the Wolves' double power play. Sirianni scored to make it 5-0. The Pusterers didn't let up after that either - much to the delight of the around 500 fans who traveled with them, who were even able to celebrate Crepaz's sixth goal. Ritten converted one of the power play situations into the equalizer: Rissmiller directed a Guentzel shot into the net to make it 1-1. However, the goalscorer had to go into the “cooler box” just a little later, together with Siddall, which enabled Layne Ulmer to score a goal straight away.

After the second break, Asiago was really on the move. Paul Zanette increased it to 3-1 before Johansson fueled Rittner's hopes again with another connection. However, the next setback came just a short time later when Ross restored Asiago's two-goal lead with a hammer shot. Ritten called a timeout and took Mason off the ice for a sixth skater. Rissmiller brought the guests back to 3:4, but the South Tyroleans couldn't do more that evening.
