Raiffeisen Cup: HC Bozen starts with an 8-2 win against Fassa

Coach Bryan McCutcheon fielded four forward lines, but only had two defense pairs, Ambrosi-Borgatello and Egger-Fabris, available. The three foreigners from HCB, Sharp, Mark Mc Cutcheon and Flynn (all three played their first game of the season) played in the first block. Bernard, Marco Insam and Gander were used in the second, Zisser, Walcher and Dorigatti in the third and Gilmozzi, Wunderer and Piva from the Pergine farm team in the fourth. The goalkeeper was Günther Hell. Fassa was missing Chelodi, Sinder and the young player Casagranda.

Bozen got off to a lightning start and took the lead in 10.03 minutes with MacGregor Sharp. Shortly before the first third break, Marco Insam, who had the advantage (Turon was in the penalty box), and new signing Peter Wunderer increased the lead to 53-3 in just 0 seconds. But Fassa didn't give up and scored the goal one second before the break with defender Greg Kuznik, who gave Günther Hell no chance with a shot from the blue line in the power play.

In the middle third, Bozen continued to press, but again it was Kuznik who was able to reduce the score to 2:3. After this goal, only the HCB played and Doyle had to surpass himself several times to keep the result within limits. In the 39.02 minute, MacGregor Sharp restored the White-Reds' two-goal lead with his second goal.

In the final third, Fassa collapsed and Bolzano's second line of attack scored four times (two goals each from Marco Insam and Anton Bernard) to make the final score 8-2. Tomorrow, Sunday, Bolzano will play against hosts Kaltern Rothoblaas at 19 p.m. The winner wins the “Raiffeisen Cup 2012”.
