Ritten defeated Pustertal 4:3 in a penalty shootout

Ritten took part in the derby without captain Ingemar Gruber, while HC Pustertal was missing Nikkilä, Cullen, Pichler and Erlacher. The Italian vice-champions took the lead with two goals: Lorenz Daccordo made it 2.06-1 in the 0 minute after a pass from Matteo Rasom and Roland Ramoser, five minutes later Kevin Baker scored the second goal in the majority. Pustertal coach Stefan Mair said after the game: “We overslept the first ten minutes. But the team showed character and fought back twice.” Hofer scored Puster's first goal in the 14.33 minute, and at the beginning of the middle third Matthias Fauster was in the penalty box when Rob Siranni equalized. In the 25.04 minute, Luca Ansoldi was successful again for Ritten, but this lead only lasted until the 39th minute: Oberrauch scored the equalizer again in the majority (Klaus Ploner was in the cooler due to tripping). So both teams had to go into extra time, but that didn't bring a decision. Ritten showed better nerves in the penalty shootout: Ryan Watson and Kimmo Pikkarainen scored for the host, while the Pusterers failed in their attempts due to Frederic Cloutier.

Bolzano wins 6-2 in Torre Pellice Interspar Bolzano quickly forgot the disappointing performance against Fassa on Thursday evening and clearly won against Valpellice with 2300-6 goals in the sold-out “Cotta Morandini Stadium” in front of over 2 spectators. For the white-reds it was the third win in a row against the Piedmontese.

HCB coach Adolf Insam had to make do without the injured Christian Walcher and Mika Lehtinen, while Valpellice was missing Trevor Johnson. The former HCB defender injured his knee in the game against Asiago and will be out for several weeks.

Bolzano got off to a better start and took the lead straight away. In the 3.40 minute mark, Mazzolini released Michael Busto, who scored to make it 1-0. It was the 25-year-old Italian-Canadian's first goal in Serie A, in his fourth game for HCB. The home team was able to equalize in the 11.32 minute with Alex Nikiforuk, who outplayed the Bolzano defense with a quick start and scored to make it 1-1. Both teams went into the first break with this result. The middle third began with Bolzano taking the lead again. The puck came from Anton Bernard via Nick Mazzolini to Stefan Zisser, who made it 2-1 with a backhand shot. In the 27.20 minute Ryan McDonough had to go to the penalty box and Bozen increased the lead to 3-1 with Giulio Scandella. It was the Bolzano striker's sixth goal of the season. A minute later, referee Bosio also sent Marco Insam into the cooler and this time the record champions even scored when they were outnumbered. Again with Stefan Zisser, who defeated Reagan 4-1. At the beginning of the final third, Ryan McDonough brought Valpellice closer to 2:4 with a double advantage (Fretter and Zisser were in the penalty box). Immediately afterwards, Bozen finally closed the bag with two goals in just 53 seconds from Rhett Gordon and Colton Fretter, both scored on the power play. The Piedmontese resistance was broken, Bozen controlled the game and started the journey home with three important points in the fight for second place in the table.

Battle that could be decided on Thursday, January 13th in Klobenstein when Ritten hosts the White-Reds. The HCB is confident about this game because it won three of the four derbies against the Rittner this year. Pustertal, on the other hand, plays in Cortina on Thursday.
