Ritten gambles away – 4:5 defeat in Asiago

The match started with a huge surprise. Roland Fink (backup Hannes Treibenreif) was in the Rittner goal and not Fabian Weinhandl, who had to make room for Justin DiBenedetto. According to the club, Marty Raymond's decision had nothing to do with Weinhandl's performance in game two and was purely a tactical measure. Luca Ansoldi, however, returned to the defending champions' team after a matchday suspension.

In the middle third, first Devergilio and then Spinell received a penalty. When both teams played with four men each, Ritten took the lead for the second time. Tudin fed Rissmiller, who stormed towards the home team's goal and at the last moment passed to Travis Ramsey, who in turn had no trouble flicking the disc over the line (21.11).

The game petered out, there were few highlights and even a power play brought in nothing. Nine minutes into the second period, Eisath caught Asiagos Strazzabosco in the face with the stick. Ritten tried hard after that, but there was no real good opportunity - even with one more man on the ice, because Fink had left his box two minutes before the end.
