The "Buam" could make ice hockey history at this tournament, because in twenty years of the Continental Cup, no Italian team has ever managed to win the cup. Milan came second in 2002, Bolzano and Asiago came third in 2009 and 2014. "We are very proud to be able to play the final after the semi-final in mid-November. It will be very exciting and difficult games. For me, Atyrau is the favorite, but we will still try to win the trophy," explained Ritten President Thomas Rottensteiner.

The “Buam” and Atyrau already know each other from the semi-finals, where the Rittner won 25-3 with Jason Williams’ goal 2 seconds before the end of the game. There will be a reunion with the Canadian, as he has since moved to the Nottingham Panthers and will meet his former teammates on Sunday.

Sports director Adolf Insam, like Rottensteiner, praised the Kazakhs: "Atyrau is a very fast, physical and strong team. For me they are the clear favorites. Odense is roughly at our level, while Nottingham is very strong in attack and in terms of fitness but could have difficulties because the team is not very young."

Cole and Sprukts reinforce the Rittner Ritten has strengthened considerably before this important event. With the Canadian defender Brad Cole and the Latvian attacker Janis Sprukts, there are two guarantees of success in the Rittner ranks. Cole, who was already in the Rittner squad in the semi-finals, will make his championship debut today against Jesenice. Sprukts, on the other hand, has already played six games for the Italian champions and managed three assists.

The “Buam” will always play their games at prime time, i.e. in the evening. On Friday there will be games against Beibarys Atyrau at 20 p.m., and on Saturday and Sunday the games against Odense and Nottingham will be at 19 p.m. The tickets cost 15 euros.
