Rittner Buam: “We want to defend our titles”

After the “Buam” won the AHL and Serie A double last year, they are now prepared to cause a sensation in the second year of the Alps Hockey League. Thomas Rottensteiner, President of the Rittner Buam, is once again setting big goals for his team this year. “Our players are very hungry, we really want to defend the double. But it will be very difficult this year, many teams have strengthened, especially the Austrian teams. For me personally, the two Slovenian teams, Jesenice and Ljubljana, are also among the title contenders.”

The adventure begins for Ritten on Wednesday, September 13th with the away game against last year's EBEL representative Ljubljana. Right from the start, Borgatello & Co. are facing a difficult test, as coach Riku Lehtonen knows, and he makes no secret of his team's ambitions. “The goal is to win both the AHL and Serie A,” said the Finn. “We have a young but very strong team. In the end we want to be at the top again.”

The highlight again was the Continental Cup But the AHL championship is not the only highlight that awaits Ritten in the next few months. The semi-finals of the Continental Cup are also on the program in the Ritten Arena. The Rittner, who organized the semi-finals and the final four in Klobenstein last year, will again host the third round. The “Buam” will play against the French club Grenoble Bruleurs de Loups, the Kazakhs from Nomad Astana and the winner of Group C from November 17th to 19th. In this competition, too, the Lehtonen troop has the goal of repeating its entry into the final.

In order to be prepared for the upcoming season, the Rittners made two small changes over the summer. In addition to many confirmations, the team from Klobenstein also has the two returnees Brad Cole and Andreas Lutz available. The Canadian Cole will join the Rittner at the beginning of October, while Lutz celebrated his debut in the “Buam” jersey at the weekend. In addition, after a survey with fans, the club management decided to play all home games for the 2017-18 season at 20:00 p.m.
