Robert Chizzali new head coach of HC Eppan

For Chizzali it is a return to his old place of work - the 49-year-old had already worked as an assistant and head coach in Überetsch from 2004 to 2008. Now he is highly motivated and full of energy: “I had a really nice time in Auer that I don’t want to miss. The club gave me complete trust and I was able to develop both the team and myself well. Becoming head coach of the Pirates is both a great honor and a challenge for me. I see my role as a coach as improving the players at every training session. We will work hard and – if we all row in the right direction – we can conquer a beautiful treasure together.” The sporting director of HC Eppan, Alexander Hofer, is also looking forward to the collaboration: “Robert has worked as a trainer for several years and is now very experienced. The moment is right and I know that we can give him this great responsibility. In recent years he has achieved something great with SC Auer - his team has shown that with ambition and hard work you can achieve a lot." With Chizzali's commitment, the club wants to work even more intensively in the individual areas and "the “Use the opportunity to support and challenge our local players even better,” said Hofer.

Anything but an unknown in national ice hockey Robert Chizzali brings more than ten years of coaching experience to Überetsch. After his first time at HC Eppan, the ice hockey specialist moved to HC Bozen in 2008, where he worked for the U15 and U17 teams. In 2009/2010 he was head coach of the U20 of SV Kaltern and the U20 national team, with which he achieved promotion to the 1st division. He also worked as an assistant coach at HC Bozen. A year later he joined HC Meran Junior (head coach of the U20 as well as assistant and head coach of the A2 team) and managed the fortunes of the Italian U18 national team for two years. For the past four years, Chizzali has ultimately been in charge of the Aurora Frogs. There he celebrated two championship titles and a runner-up title in Serie C and followed that up last season by reaching the Serie B quarter-finals. He was also head coach of the Italian U2012 national team in 18 and the U20 national team the following year.

Robert Chizzali new head coach of HC Eppan

The HC Eppan Roi team has found a new captain for its pirate ship: Robert Chizzali, former coach of the Aurora Frogs, will be behind the gang for the Serie B club from next season.
