Rottensteiner: “Compliments to everyone, especially Wilson”

After the obligatory beer shower, it was master trainer Rob Wilson who was the first to speak: “We truly deserve this success. The players formed a cohesive unit throughout the season. In the sixth game everything just worked. The fans were fabulous too.” But Wilson isn’t thinking about personal redemption after several unsuccessful seasons: “I didn’t have to prove anything to anyone. I don't care about the past. What happens next season is also absolutely secondary at the moment. I just want to enjoy this moment.”

Ritten President Thomas Rottensteiner is also very happy: “We have experienced beautiful moments, I am happy. I would like to compliment the entire team, but especially Rob Wilson. Although it was often criticized, in the end it was the best decision we could have made. Mason is a professional and a great leader, but the entire team did an extraordinary job.”

The Scelfo brothers are beside themselves with joy

Years after his Serie B championship title, Emanuel Scelfo finally has reason to celebrate again. “I'm just overjoyed that it was finally enough for the title. This season all the factors were just right. Congratulations also to my brother, who did an excellent job as assistant coach,” said the Ritten striker. Roberto Scelfo takes a similar tone: “This was a very special year. Just unbelievable. I hope that I can continue to work with Rob Wilson for a long time. He is an excellent coach.”

Ansoldi dedicates his success to his family

For one of the Rittner team, championship celebrations have become a habit. We're talking about Luca Ansoldi, for whom this title still has a very special significance. “Our strength was team spirit. I have never experienced such solidarity. I dedicate this success to my daughter and my late father. He would be happy with me.”

" Finally I can really celebrate the championship title. In Bolzano and Meran I was still one of the boys on the team, but now I'm a real part of the success. Nine years of waiting are over. I also dedicate this victory to Hansjörg Brunner, who taught me a lot in Meran. “Now I’ll stick with it for another year,” said Ingemar Gruber.

The wolves lick their wounds

As exuberantly as the people of Ritten cheered, there was even more disappointment in the Bruneck camp. Coach Mario Richer still has words of praise for his protégés: “The players really gave their all, I can’t blame them. Sooner or later, HC Pustertal will finally be rewarded with the championship title. I hope that I can still stand behind the gang here. First, however, I have to clarify my contractual situation with Graz.”

Meanwhile, Christian Borgatello keeps it short: “The more disciplined team won. We made too many mistakes and penalties." The national defender doesn't want to think about next season yet: "I would like to thank all of Bruneck, despite the defeat in the final, I had a great year at the HCP. We'll see what the future brings. Maybe I can play again with HC Meran in Serie A.”
